We were founded by Mr. Simon Ghartey FLS, with the aim of creating well being and positive transferable skills through inner city development for the education of organic food growth and public art.
Starting from the borough of Lambeth, Progress has worked from educational institutions, moving into the wider community (8-10 boroughs), encouraging the harder to reach and further, in the benefits of organic food growth and re-shaping for function and beauty.
I have worked with Progress over the past 8 years, and it have seen the transformation in the community space and the lives of people, by helping them gain an appreciation of the built environment and of nature and how they can be integrated.
Children learn from growing things and my pupils really enjoy gardening, they have lots of fun and have gained lots of benefits over the two plus years they have worked with Simon and Progress. Gardening is educational and develops new skills.
What an authentic way to get to know the community and engage with younger to older generations through cultivating fresh vegetables and flowers that both brightens the estate & also gives the community an opportunity to eat fresh organic vegetables.
What were the positives and/or negatives of this activity?
